The 5-Minute Digital Safety Checklist
Don't wait for a breach to happen. Secure your perimeter today.
Use this checklist to identify and close the most common gaps in your digital life. These five steps take less than five minutes but drastically reduce your risk of becoming a target.
- 01
The "Family Verification" Code
The Risk: AI voice cloning (deepfakes) can make an attacker sound exactly like your family member.
The Move: Agree on a secret "passcode" or "code phrase" with your spouse, parents, and children. If someone calls—even if it sounds exactly like them—asking for money, help, or a wire transfer, ask for the code. No code, no action.
- 02
Lock Down Your Social Media
The Risk: Attackers use public info (photos, travel plans, pet names) to build the context for phishing or social engineering attacks.
The Move: Set your profiles to "Private." Remove your phone number and email address from public view. Stop posting real-time location updates.
- 03
Enable MFA (The Right Way)
The Risk: Stolen passwords are the #1 way accounts are compromised.
The Move: Turn on Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for every account that handles money, communication, or data (Email, Banking, Cloud Storage, Social Media).
Pro Tip: Use an authentication app (like Authy or 2FAS) or a hardware key (like YubiKey). Avoid SMS-based codes if possible.
- 04
Master the "10-Second Pause"
The Risk: Attacks are designed to trigger fear, urgency, or curiosity. They want you to act before you think.
The Move: Before you click a link, download an attachment, or reply to an urgent request, pause for 10 seconds. Ask: Does this make sense? Why are they asking me now? If you feel rushed, that is your signal to stop.
- 05
Simplify Your Security
The Risk: Reusing passwords across sites means one leak ruins everything.
The Move: Install a reputable password manager (like Bitwarden or 1Password). Create a unique, complex password for every single account. You only need to remember one master password.
